Table Image

One thing that is quite often forgotten about, by both new and experienced players, is the importance of your table image. This has a big effect on how your opponents at the poker table will perceive you and how they are going to play against you. If you want to be a winning poker player, this is something you have to work on and find a table image that suits you and your game. I am sure you treat a very aggressive player different from a conservative player that plays very tight. This is automatically of course. Using a table image is an important and psychological part of poker that is very interesting.

As for most players, they have their own preferred style that they use in general. However if you can manage to play it in different ways it can make your game better and for sure more fun. You will probably be able to have more control at the poker table. This goes for all kind of players and a table image can vary from an obvious very bad player to a tight player that is feared by the opponents. These different styles can be effective at different tables, even if it is a lot between those. A basic strategy is to play more aggressive at table where most players are conservative. You can in some cases get them to play looser and there is a lot to win if you manage to control a table like that. At some tables you might get more out of playing more conservative against a precision player. Then the goal is to trap him in some hands that he did not suspect.

So how do you create a certain table image? All things that help to characterize you with other players is actually your appearance. Of course there is a big difference here between playing live and online poker. But most of all it is about how you play, what cards you win the hands with, how often do you play a hand? Or how much do you bet in certain situations? These things create a certain image of you in the heads of your opponents and that is actually what table image is all about. If you fold 9 out of 10 hands usually you will be treated with extreme care when you actually play and this is most often a hard situation. You will find your opponents folding when you actually have a playable hand. Of course this image can be useful in some situations even though it is not to recommend in general.

Table image is about controlling yourself first of all, in order to control the poker table. This way you can stay focused and managing how to deal with the different player types at the table.
